Answer:

The wheat we use is grown for ornamental purposes only and is cut days before it would be cut for grain. A weaving will last for 20 years or more as long.as the wheat is cut before it is ripe.

   
Question: Is the wheat sprayed or dipped in some way to achieve the black beards?
   
Answer: No.. It is a natural wheat no longer grown for commercial use.

Can a wheat weaving be safely hung outside?

   
Answer: They are better kept indoors, although it is possible to keep them in an area.such as a screened off porch where they will be protected from the elements.and birds. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

Answer:

Dust may be blown off with a hairdryer or canned air (such as you would use.for computer cleaning.)
   
Question: What is the best way to transport a wheat weaving, or send it by mail?
   
Answer: The best way to ship a weaving is to sandwich it between two pieces of cardboard cut larger than the weaving itself, then staple and/or tape around the outer edge. This is the way we ship all orders placed on the web.
   
Question: How is the wheat bent and worked without breakage?
   
Answer: It is soaked in hot water until pliable.
